The Gibson Climate Justice Lab’s Insights from COP29

Every year, over a hundred countries come together for the world’s leading climate conference known as the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP). In 2024, the negotiations were held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11-22. As accredited observers, researchers from the Gibson Climate Justice Lab followed and reported on key issues throughout the conference.

Led by Dr. Shannon Gibson, an affiliated faculty member of the Wrigley Institute, the Gibson Climate Justice Lab combines research, advocacy, and experiential learning to explore how marginalized voices can shape global climate policies. With COP29 as a focal point, the Gibson Lab has analyzed and published key findings from this year’s negotiations on different digital platforms. In this roundup, we highlight the lab and the researchers’ latest publications.
