Dornsife Ph.D. Academy Scholarship and Research Fund
The programming offered by the Dornsife Ph.D. Academy is designed to support professional development and research needs, within the academy and beyond. To this end, we are now pleased to be able to offer a certain amount of financial research support to our participants.
APRIL 26, 2024 AT 5PM (PST)
Eligible to apply for up to $500 from the Ph.D. Academy Scholarship and Research Fund:
First-year students who attend a minimum of FOUR Ph.D. Academy events for their cohort during the course of the academic year
Second-Fifth year students who attend a minimum of THREE Ph.D. Academy events for their cohort during the course of the academic year
*Please note: social events/holiday party attendance does not count towards the scholarship.*

Application Requirements
Eligible students must submit a single pdf containing:
- a one-page explanation of the scholarly project/need;
- detailed budget;
- timeline;
- a statement of support for the funds planned use from mentor, professor, DGS, or Chair (recommenders can also send their letter of support directly to phdacademy@dornsife.usc.edu and we will attach it to your application)
- dates of Ph.D. Academy attendance this academic year
Please use the following naming convention: YOURYEAR_YOURLASTNAME_YOURFIRSTNAME_YOURPROGRAM_AY23
e.g., YR2_YU_JASMINE_AHIS_AY23
Students should be advised that this is a selective application process; however, we will attempt to fund as many such applications as possible.
Please Keep in Mind:
The Dornsife Ph.D. Academy reviews our comprehensive sign in database to ensure applicants attended the events they list in their application. We count attendance for students who attend the entire event (dinner and program). We do not count attendance for students who only attend the free dinner. For Zoom attendees, we do not count attendance for students who stay in the Zoom meeting for only a few minutes.
