Meet Shelly

Background

Shelly comes to USC after nine years at Rutgers University, recently serving as their Senior Director of Development for Regional Major Gifts. In her time at Rutgers, she managed a large portfolio in California and led a team of regionally embedded employees, planning and implementing the Rutgers Regional Strategic Plan initiative for the West Coast. Prior to Rutgers, she was a Regional Director of Development for the University of Texas at San Antonio. Shelly is a San Antonio native. Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her 2-year-old son, Maverick. Shelly is very excited to be working at USC, and to be able to be close to campus (instead of across the country)!

Why USC?

Since moving to Southern California, I have witnessed the power and presence of the Trojan Family and have been inspired to join such a passionate community. The overwhelming pride is evident daily, from license plates to signs and flags. This strong backing from both alumni and the community underscores USC’s lasting impact and its commitment to fostering a thriving, interconnected network.

Favorite initiative you’ve worked on?

The Frontiers of Computing initiative at USC is my favorite because it represents the cutting edge of technological advancement and innovation. The initiative not only enhances the university’s academic excellence but also addresses pressing global challenges, fostering a community of forward-thinking leaders and experts. This investment in the future of computing ensures that USC remains at the forefront of technological progress, benefiting society at large.

Favorite spot on campus?

The USC bookstore. I enjoy seeing the excitement and trojan pride of everyone who enters. You can watch grateful students, proud parents, and young kids hoping to be a future trojan picking out their favorite gear!
