
The Department of Chemistry congratulates Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, Arieh Warshel, on his recent elections to the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (NAAI) and the Serbian National Academy of Sciences.
The National Academy of Artificial Intelligence is an institution that unites scientists and engineers with the shared goals of advancing the development of AI and increasing public awareness around its practical and ethical applications. With this election, NAAI recognizes Prof. Warshel’s outstanding contributions to the field of artificial intelligence and provides a platform for his work to have broadened reach and impact. The review process is very competitive, and the academy holds itself to a high standard of evidence-based research to address societal issues pertaining to artificial intelligence. The Department commends Arieh Warshel for this immense honor.
The Serbian National Academy of Sciences was founded in 1841 and is the preeminent academic institution of Serbia. The academy’s membership includes Dmitri Mendeleev, Leopold Ružička, Vladimir Prelog, Glenn T. Seaborg, to name a few. The Presidium of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) recently held a meeting during which Prof. Arieh Warshel was elected as an honorary member. He joins a cohort of influential Nobel laureates from the field of chemistry granted membership to the academy, receiving international recognition for his crucial research.
