What is Pre-Health? To be “pre-health” means you are seeking admission to a health professional program upon completion of a bachelors degree (B.A., B.S.). The term also means that you are embarking on a specific course of study including gaining experience outside the classroom aimed at preparing you to be a competitive and well-rounded applicant to health professional school.
Our office serves as a resource center for you throughout your journey in pursuing a career in the health professions. We encourage you to explore the world of pre-health through self-reflection, skill development, and experiential learning opportunities within our office, the broader USC campus, and the wider Los Angeles community.

We are proud to offer a wide range of student-centered programs designed to help you explore the health professions, gain valuable healthcare experiences, and prepare to be a competitive applicant.

More than Pre-Health: Embracing your Journey Beyond Academics
The “More Than Pre-Health” initiative, spearheaded by our 2022-2023 Pre-Health Student Advisory Board and brought to life through the creative lens of Rohan Khehar (’24), celebrates the multifaceted lives of pre-health students. With two insightful videos featuring Victoria (2023) and Emma (2024), this program shines a light on the importance of personal discovery and joy beyond academic pursuits while on the pre-health journey.
Remember, being a pre-health student can be demanding and stressful, and it’s important to find who we are and what we enjoy outside of our studies! Keep an eye out for more updates as we continue to share these important stories.
