    Wanted — MCAT Tutors!

    MedSchoolCoach, the nation’s leader in MCAT preparation, is actively seeking tutor candidates! We are looking for individuals who are bright, dynamic and engaging, preferably with teaching or tutoring experience (TA experience is great!). Candidates must have taken the MCAT within the past 3 years, and achieved a score of 130 or higher in at least two sections of the exam. Our pay is very competitive ($45.00 per hour, with opportunities for raises and bonuses) and scheduling is flexible. This is a fantastic job for students looking to earn some extra money while doing something rewarding and fun.

    Gap-Year Clinical Research Fellowship

    The Orthopedic Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) funds a select number of Medical Career Design (MCD) Fellowships to allow recent college graduates the opportunity to explore many aspects of a medical career — research, clinical practice, education, advocacy and leadership.

    Each MCD fellow spends two years as an essential member of our research and clinical teams, mentored by our thought-leading faculty from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. CHOP’s Orthopedic Center is consistently ranked among the best pediatric orthopedic programs in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

    Stanford COMET Medical Scribe Fellowship

    Stanford’s Clinical Observation and Medical Transcription (COMET) Fellowship is a 1-year, unparalleled, post-baccalaureate clinical experience with outstanding faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine. Engage in research and present at national medical conferences, Build connections with faculty, physician/PA/NP mentors and other prehealth students, and increase your chances of admission to competitive graduate programs.

     

    Dermatology Medical Assistant

    Part time work with Dr. Dacko, MD, in a Dermatology office located in Silver Lake. Hours approx 9am to 5pm on Tue, Wed, Thurs.

    Salary depends upon experience. Work involves checking patients in, ID, Insurance, collecting payment, escorting patients into exam rooms and taking a basic history. Setting up simple procedure trays for the physician for biopsies etc. Cleaning and prepping the exam room for the next patient. Becoming familiar with our EMR in order to book appointments and enter prescriptions. Answering phones and making appointments, taking messages for the providers. I am looking for someone who is interested in medicine, who can show up on time and work well with our team. The position can be flexible in terms of numbers of days or hours if needed.

    Kaiser Permanente Apothecary Circle Pharmacy Program (ACP)

    The Kaiser Permanente Apothecary Circle Pharmacy Program (ACP) was created to increase the presence of under-represented pharmacists in the profession of pharmacy. The ACP is available to college students from racial and ethnic groups that have been historically underrepresented in PharmacyThis includes LatinX, African American and Native American students.

     

    The ACP offers under-represented, undergraduate and graduate students who are studying to become pharmacists a program to increase their success for acceptance to a pharmacy school. ACP offers paid summer internships for juniors, seniors and graduate students over one summer. The program’s mission is to develop undergraduate college students into capable and experienced pharmacists who will enhance the diversity of the profession. The ACP internship immerses pre-pharmacy students in all aspects of pharmacy: outpatient, inpatient acute care and clinical ambulatory care, while fostering their leadership skills. Additionally, the program leaders mentor the students as they apply to pharmacy schools.

    The KP Apothecary Circle Program is reaching out to career counselors to share this program with underrepresented pre-pharmacy students who would like to become excellent candidates for acceptance to schools of pharmacy.

    The criteria to apply for KP ACP internship:
    ·        Completion of the second year of college.
    ·        A minimum 3.0 GPA
    ·        Completion of the application form
    ·        A scanned copy of unofficial transcripts for all college work so far.
    ·        A two-page essay describing their interest in Pharmacy, their leadership skills, and what makes them the best candidate for an ACP position.
    ·        Three references

    Cardiovascular Summer Research Program

    The Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center (Frankel CVC) is pleased to offer a 10-week summer undergraduate research fellowship program to engage undergraduate students in basic, cardiovascular research at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. 

    Fellows are matched to a laboratory led by a Frankel CVC faculty member conducting research in areas such as atherosclerosis, genetic cardiomyopathies, blood clotting disorders, cardiac arrhythmias, vascular biology, and heart failure. In addition to working as a laboratory assistant within their mentor’s lab, fellows will attend weekly scientific seminars, participate in organized social events, and close the summer with an oral presentation of their research findings to faculty, staff, and peers at the End of Summer Symposium. 

    The fellowship stipend is paid via bi-weekly paychecks (direct deposit available) at a rate of $15 per hour (pre-tax) for ten weeks of full-time work (40 hours per week).

    COPE Health Scholar Clinical Program

    The Health Scholars Program at Adventist Health Glendale gives pre-healthcare professionals unparalleled access to direct patient care and hospital administrative positions. Program participants become valuable members of the care team working alongside nurses, physicians and allied health professionals in clinical and administrative settings.

    Program participants receive training to assist in basic patient care tasks as they rotate among different units within the hospital.

    Orthopedics Pre-Medical Clinical Internship

    Stetson Lee Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is looking to hire recent college graduates and aspiring doctors for their year-long, paid internship program. This internship is designed to provide practical experience to college graduates bound for medical school.

    Interns work directly with the physicians and will learn how to take medical histories, document patient present illnesses, review X-ray and MRI results from in-office machines, and to synthesize information into possible diagnoses. Interns will also complete administrative tasks.

    Interns will also have the opportunity to attend both arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, knee, elbow, hip, and ankle, as well as engage in ongoing research projects with the goal of publishing their projects in peer-reviewed journals.

    Position Requirements:

    • Must have recently graduated from a university (Class of 2024 included)

    • Must have taken the MCAT

    • Planning on attending medical school

    • Interest in orthopedics a plus

    Time Commitment
    Full-time, with a 1 year commitment from late May 2025. Applicants who will have taken the MCAT before May 2025 and can start by May 19, 2025 will be preferred. 

    UM-SMART Undergraduate Research Program

    The goal of the UM-SMART program is to help students decide if a career as a physician-scientist is right for them, and to enhance competitiveness when applying to MD/PhD programs.  The UM-SMART has helped 119 undergraduate participants learn about MD/PhD training since 2008.  After graduation, 77% of past participants entered MD/PhD, PhD, or MD programs.  This 10-week program is aimed at students who have some amount of basic and mechanistic research experience related to medicine and are interested in gaining more experience to advance their career goals.  UM-SMART is not intended for students seeking clinical research experience on human subjects.  Additionally, we do not offer opportunities in public health, the social sciences, or humanities.

    Program dates:  May 27 – August 3, 2025

    Program Highlights:

    Students participating in a lab receive a stipend of $4,700 plus residence hall housing and a meal allowance.

    The main scientific focus of the summer program is to provide full-time laboratory biomedical research.

     

    Eligibility:

    Applicants belonging to groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in biomedical research are strongly encouraged to apply. This includes:  Individuals from underrepresented racial or ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities, such as those with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds such as family annual income below established low-income thresholds, or an educational environment that has inhibited the individual from obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to develop and participate in a research career.
