Clinical Experience Opportunity: The Care Extenders Programs at UCLA

“The Care Extender Program at UCLA provides a wealth of opportunities for individuals to gain first-hand experience of the health care setting through a clinical perspective. Care Extenders are able to explore the flow and roles of health care providers in different clinical settings, and are trained to assist medical staff in various tasks and procedures. This program allows individuals to gain insight into the vigorous yet rewarding experience of working in health care, which aids them in determining their future career course!

This program is an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, as it provides maximum exposure to medicine for an undergraduate. Through interaction with patients, health care providers, and visitors, volunteers can not only determine if this career is right for them but also have a profound impact on the hospital community as just an undergraduate student!

Research Opportunity: Roaring Cubs Collective STEM Mentorship

The Roaring Cubs Collective (RCC) was founded on the premise that students of all backgrounds should have the opportunity to engage with their scientific passions and develop foundational research skills during their pre-college years.  Run by student researchers RCC offers accessible and effective STEM mentorship to high school and middle school students.

If you have prior research experience or are currently conducting academic research, this is a great opportunity to use your knowledge to help younger students gain early exposure and discover their passions in scientific research.

This 8-week virtual program (from the week of October 13th – December 5th, 2025) introduce students to the skills of research, such as how to read and synthesize scientific information, how to formulate questions, and how to identify and gain access to opportunities at research institutions.

All of our programming will be virtual and the research component will be literature-based. The estimated time commitment is 1-2 hours per week.

If you have any questions or concerns, please check out the flyer and don’t hesitate to contact roaringcubscollective@gmail.com.
