Biography

My research interests are on the border of Political Science and Cultural Studies. I am currently researching how political contexts and demographic characteristics have predicted the Trump vote among Latinos. This work has a strong emphasis on critically engaging with the “Hispanic/Latino” category, highlighting its internal diversity.  I also participate in a COLEF- CONACYT Funded Research Project called “Sanctuary Cities as Emerging Borders”, studying feelings of fear among undocumented Mexican Immigrants during the Trump presidency. More recently I have engaged with research on monuments and national projects in Mexico, along with an analysis of the responsiveness of Mexican legislators to constituents of diferent racial profiles.  I am generally interested in conservative discourse, ethnicity and governmentality. Substantively, I study US and Mexican politics.
