Biography

Yangran Gao is a PhD student in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Southern California. Born in Wuyi, a small town in southeastern China and raised in Hangzhou, the provincial capital of Zhejiang, he has witnessed this country’s rapid economic development. His academic journey began at Peking University, where his coursework in Latin American literature sparked a deep intellectual curiosity in the region’s ever-changing socio-political landscape, especially the growing influence from China. Aiming at helping inform a sustainable solution for development of and cooperation between the Global South, he is interested in International Political Economy; China – Latin America Relations; and Environmental Politics.
