Uncovering Enforced Disappearances in the OSCE Region
Please join a timely panel discussion in person or via zoom this Thursday at 3:30pm Pacific (6:30 ET) with human rights defenders from the OSCE region, including the human rights NGO Crude Accountability and Armenia, to examine the international crime of Enforced Disappearances across the OSCE region. This panel will launch a set of new reports and policy papers analyzing this human rights abuse in Nagorno-Karabakh (Armenia-Azerbaijan), Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan and feature the authors of each report (Mushegh Yekmalyan) Yerevan, (Kate Watters) Washington, DC, and (Steve Swerdlow) Los Angeles. The right to health is fundamental to the human condition, yet achieving sexual health remains an elusive goal. Rates of sexually transmitted infections continue to climb across the world, and with uneven access to effective HIV prevention methods. Anthropologically informed public health analyses demonstrate the ways in which social and structural factors serve to sustain and strengthen disparities of sexual health opportunity and outcome in the context of globalization.

State of U.S. Security: A Conversation with Avril Haines

In this conversation, Avril Haines will discuss a range of national security topics with Professor Gregory Treverton. Haines is the Director of National Intelligence in the Biden Administration. She formerly served in the Obama Administration as Deputy National Security Advisor and Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Before joining the USC faculty, Professor Treverton served on the first Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and was Chair of the National Intelligence Council in the Obama Administration.
This event is open to USC students, faculty, and staff. RSVP is required for attendance. Attendees are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before the event begins and check-in with their USC ID.
