The Center for International Studies invites POIR PhD students to attend a panel with Tine Paulsen and Brian Palmer-Rubin for a discussion about the job search process moderated by Saori Katada. Faculty panelists will give recommendations on candidates’ preparations, including strategies on gathering your application materials and conducting the interview process. They will also share what they look for in candidates as members of a search committee.

State of U.S. Security: A Conversation with Avril Haines

In this conversation, Avril Haines will discuss a range of national security topics with Professor Gregory Treverton. Haines is the Director of National Intelligence in the Biden Administration. She formerly served in the Obama Administration as Deputy National Security Advisor and Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Before joining the USC faculty, Professor Treverton served on the first Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and was Chair of the National Intelligence Council in the Obama Administration.
This event is open to USC students, faculty, and staff. RSVP is required for attendance. Attendees are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before the event begins and check-in with their USC ID.
This event is co-sponsored by the Center for International Studies, the Intelligence Community Centers for Academic Excellence, and the Center for the Political Future.

Getting Burned: Global Health Disparities in STI/HIV Care and Prevention

The right to health is fundamental to the human condition, yet achieving sexual health remains an elusive goal. Rates of sexually transmitted infections continue to climb across the world, and access to effective HIV prevention methods is uneven. Anthropologically-informed public health analyses demonstrate the ways in which social and structural factors serve to sustain and strengthen disparities of sexual health opportunity and outcome in the context of globalization.
Students are invited to attend a keynote address by Dr. Bradley Stoner, Professor of Public Health Sciences and Medicine at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. This event will be in person, but may be attended by Zoom.
