Erika Rothenberg is an artist who uses words and images to create a provocative and humorous portrait of America. Her work takes on many forms, from paintings and photographs to museum installations to large-scale outdoor works. Exhibitions include The Museum of Modern Art, New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, the Hirshhorn Museum, Washington DC; and Documenta IX, Kassel, Germany. She is a founder of the activist group, Guerrilla Girls. Rothenberg has completed several public art projects, including The Road to Hollywood in LA, and Freedom of Expression National Monument in New York.
