ICW scholars are at the forefront of thematic and historical investigations of the history and significance of the American West. Our scholarly queries range across time and place, across circumstance and setting.
Key research projects include our on-going Aerospace History Project, designed to illuminate the history and impact of the aerospace industry across Southern California; the Chinatown History Project, an exciting collaborative effort designed to explore the history and significance of the first Chinatown of Los Angeles; and our big West on Fire project, a multidisciplinary workshop aimed at broadening public knowledge of, and discussions about, wildfire in the American West. Broader partnerships, including the USC Libraries Collections Convergence Initiative and Third L.A., help ICW reach a wide audience and welcome public participants in person and via the internet.
