Biography

Claire is a Ph.D. Candidate studying the reception of Greek and Latin literature by women humanists of the early modern period. Her dissertation explores authorial models and rhetorical positioning vis-à-vis the Classical tradition in the epistolary works of Italian women humanists such as Isotta Nogarola, Cassandra Fedele, Laura Cereta, and Olimpia Morata.

Claire is a proponent of active language pedagogy, believing Latin and Ancient Greek are most effectively taught and learned using all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). She has taught both Greek and Latin using active methods, including comprehensible input and TPRS methodologies.
