Biography

Bouchra Tafrata’s research examines the politics of land, extractivism, and infrastructure in arid environments. Drawing on political economy, environmental anthropology, and science and technology studies, she traces how agro-industrial development, finance, governance, and climate change reshape dry landscapes and livelihoods in southern Morocco. Before joining USC, she worked across academia and public policy research in Germany and Morocco. She holds a BA in Political Science from Mohammed V University and a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the Willy Brandt School at the University of Erfurt.
