Biography

Bena is a third-year PhD student in the Department of Anthropology. Her research is interested in the relationship between return migration by the African diaspora to the African continent and the transforming aesthetics of African metropolises.

Prior to beginning her PhD at USC, Bena studied anthropology and African studies at Stanford. In her free time, she enjoys reuniting with friends and family, creative writing, receiving new music recommendations, long car rides, being by water, and going to the movie theater.
