Ask Me About:
- How to get into lab work! While I am double majoring in Anthropology and Biological sciences I have also been working inside the archeology lab these past few weeks and it has been an incredible experience. Understanding the inner workings of a lab and how to truly find a place for yourself can be hard and I would love to help students work through those difficulties to get a more fulfilling journey at USC.
Advice:
The biggest advice I can give to incoming students is that they should be prepared to read. A lot of anthropological work that we handle in those first few semesters is essays and stories professionals in the field produce. This means consistently students will have at least a dozen or so pages each week. My advice is to set up a goal schedule for yourself. I struggle to sit down and read something but having an idea of how long I’m reading for or when I expect to read does make the process easier. I would also recommend actually taking handwritten notes about what you are reading, both to understand the text and be able to study off of them for midterms and finals.
