We understand families may be most concerned about their student’s safety and well-being. We have several practices in place to ensure students remain safe and healthy during travels.

The USC Student Health Center has an immunization clinic to help students fulfill all their pre-departure health requirements. A full list of immunizations offered can be found here. We hold pre-departure, safety, and on-site orientations to inform students of safety considerations, local customs, where to get their questions and concerns answered, and to share the emergency protocol for each program.

While studying abroad through a university-sponsored program, students qualify for the USC Student Health Insurance Plan for Student Studying Overseas. Learn more here. Additionally, students are required to enroll in the International SOS program. While engaging in any travel during the program, the student will need to carry both their USC ID card and their International SOS ID card, in case of a medical emergency or urgent care. Learn more about how it works here.

Check out the U.S. Department of State Information for the location and destinations they plan to visit. Knowing more about the host country or city will only equip your student in being prepared so they might experience safe and healthy travel.
