Agents of Change

The Agents of Change Civil Rights Advocacy Initiative is the first experiential undergraduate civil rights clinic in the nation. Undergraduate students work with community-based stake holders to current and ongoing civil rights issues. In addition to merging real-time civil rights advocacy with its graded curriculum, USC Dornsife supports participating undergraduate students’ work with monthly stipends.

CALIS

Center for Active Learning and International Studies

CALIS is an outreach project of the School of International Relations dedicated to advancing teaching excellence in international studies.  USC students team-teach grades 6-12 in local schools and act as a driving force for academic innovation and socially relevant scholarship. CALIS is better able to reach globally to provide effective strategies and materials in international studies through its local work.

Financial Inclusion Program

A collaborative project providing training and mentorship in Spanish and English for women micro-entrepreneurs in the greater Los Angeles area. The eight week workshop coaches women from low to moderate income communities in entrepreneurship on concepts that range from creating a business plan to understanding digital marketing.

Fisher Fellowship Program

Enables first generation students with financial need to participate more fully in the co-curricular opportunities such as Maymester, PWP and research programs that enrich one’s USC education and professional development. Students selected for this Fellowship are eligible to receive up to $10,000 over three years.

JEP

Joint Educational Project

JEP offers a wide range of service and service-learning opportunities in nearby schools, community-based organizations, health-care facilities and legal clinics.  JEP partners with USC faculty who offer course credit for participating in JEP; the program offers opportunities for alumni, USC employees and student volunteers, as well.

STUDY ABROAD

Overseas Studies Program

Study abroad for a semester or a year! Programs include exciting and diverse opportunities for research, experiential learning or internship. Pursue academic work that complements one’s studies, gain a deeper understanding of a particular culture and improve foreign language skills.

PEMBH

Physical Education Mind Body Health

Provides a variety of opportunities for students to improve their general health and fitness through fitness related and recreational activities classes. Courses are designed to introduce students to various aspects of health and physical education principles. With this exposure, knowledge, and skill, students are better equipped to make choices regarding a healthy and active lifestyle.

PEP

Prison Education Project

USC and incarcerated students learn from each other in a rigorous and collaborative learning environment across various academic disciplines. Through PEP, USC students and faculty design, teach and participate in classes with people incarcerated in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation system.

SOAR

Student Opportunities for Academic Research

The purpose of SOAR is to connect students with faculty members and their research during Fall and Spring semesters. It allows all students to be mentored one-on-one by USC faculty and introduces the process of scholarly inquiry to students early in their academic careers.

SURF

Summer Undergraduate Research Fund

Funding to participate as a research assistant in a faculty member’s project, providing mentoring and introduction into student’s desired field. It allows students to be mentored one-on-one by USC faculty and introduces the process of scholarly inquiry to students early in their academic careers.

MOCK TRIAL

Trial Advocacy Program

A program dedicated to advocacy, community outreach, and law school preparation. With a strong alumni network and excellent coaching staff, our program offers a unique look into law school and becoming a lawyer.

WASHINGTON DC

DC Program

Provides students with a unique, semester-long opportunity to study and work in the nation’s capital complimented by relevant coursework. The program assists students in finding internships that offer the best work experience to complement the student’s program of student and career goals.
