The Dornsife Office of Experiential and Applied Learning is pleased to announce the following ExL Student Recognition Initiatives.

  • The ExL Ambassadors empowers future leaders and changemakers through showcasing their participation in various Dornisfe experiential and applied learning programs. While our different ExL programs vary in what their work focuses on, what unites them is their track record of, and ongoing commitment to, driving transformative change for society.

    Ambassadors are selected for  one year commitments and are required to:

    • Join office staff in filming and photographing advertisement material for the ExL office
    • Promote ExL programs
    • Participate in ExL events including panels, guest speakers, and professional development opportunities that come up.
    Coming Fall 2024

  • The ExL Scholars empowers future leaders and changemakers by providing funding (up to $5,000) for them to extend past participation in the various Dornisfe experiential and applied learning programs by working on their own service project. While our different ExL programs vary in what their work focuses on, what unites them is their track record of, and ongoing commitment to, driving transformative change for society. This funding seeks to highlight this ongoing commitment of our ExL students.

    Scholars are selected for  one year commitments and are required to:

    • Complete a service project aligned to Scholars’ interests and passions, to reinforce Scholars’ commitment to driving impact at scale and to bring it to life through hands-on work.
    • Provide a finalized 1-page report and 1-page budget breakdown of the completed service project.
    • Join office staff in filming and photographing advertisement material for the ExL office.
    • A bi-monthly check in with ExL administration to provide updates on the service project.
    • Participate in events including panels, guest speakers, and professional development opportunities that come up.
    Eligibility requirements:
    • Scholars must have participated in ExL programs for at least 1 year.
    • Served an ExL Ambassador.
    • Be a Dornsife undergraduate student.
    • Maintain good academic standing.
    • Must have at least 2 semesters (including semester of application) of attendance at USC left to receive funding.
    Coming Fall 2024

  • The ExL Graduates recognizes soon-to-be graduated Dornsife alumni who participated and excelled in the various Dornsife experiential and applied learning programs offered during their undergraduate education. This award celebrates the culmination of their experiential learning journey to driving change in society through their past and present accomplishments, encouraging and supporting Graduates to continue their commitment to social change after graduating from the university as well.

    Funding: ExL Graduates are awarded a $1,000 award in recognition of their continued participation in ExL programs.

    Graduates selected are required to:

    • Join office staff in filming and photographing advertisement material for the ExL office.
    Eligibility Requirements 
    • Scholars must have participated in ExL programs for at least 2 years.
    • Be a Dornsife undergraduate student.
    • Has shown commitment to driving change in society through past, present, and future goals.
    • Must be graduating in the upcoming commencement.
