Governor Gavin Newsom has increasingly spoken about how his Catholic beliefs shape his political opinions. These references to religion may be a sign of his presidential ambitions in 2028. They won’t, however, win over the country’s most significant religious voting bloc, evangelical Christians.
This group has long voted for the Republican candidate, Richard Flory told the San Francisco Chronicle. Still, it may humanize him with voters. “It turns you into a whole person and not just a political whatever,” Flory said.
