Siyu Shen
Biography
Siyu Shen is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Art History and a participant in the Visual Studies Graduate Certificate. Her area of focus includes early modern Italy, with a particular interest in how increasing transcultural exchanges influenced art, fashion, and design in Italy and what these images can reveal about local perceptions of Asia.
She has held internships and research positions at the Worcester Art Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Mead Art Museum. She was a co-curator for What’s So Funny? How Humor Makes Us Think as a Curatorial Fellow at the University Museum of Contemporary Art (University of Massachusetts Amherst) and a student curator for NATURE, PLEASURE, MYTH: Animals in the Art of Japan at the Mead Art Museum. Prior to joining USC, Siyu received her B.A. from Amherst College in Anthropology and Art History and her M.A. in the History of Art and Architecture from UMass Amherst. [shensiyu@usc.edu]
