Thank you for your interest in the Master of Science in Applied Psychology program here at the University of Southern California, which was formerly known as the Master’s of Human Behavior (MHB). This intensive, one- year degree program seeks to put psychology to work in the business context by combining psychology with organizational and business issues of contemporary interest. The program curriculum is at the intersection of psychology theory, research, and practice in business settings. We offer coursework in both Organizational psychology and Consumer psychology, both of which are central to the crucial missions of successfully managing a workforce and marketing services in the increasingly global marketplace. This program is unique within USC’s Dornsife College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for having an eye towards the career preparation of liberal arts graduates. A required internship in a business setting in Los Angeles is a highlight of our program. Students have held internships in market research, marketing, human relations, public relations, organizational development, and social media communications, among other fields.
The diversity in our program assures you will be challenged by your peers as well as by your instructors. Faculty members have been practicing senior level executives in their fields, and students in the program have come from many areas of the United States as well as other countries. In small classes, you will be working in groups, discussing your ideas and conducting professional-level projects.
