Biography
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Jessica Piazza now lives in Los Angeles where she teaches in the Writing Program at the University of Southern California. She holds a Ph.D. in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Southern California, an MA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Texas, Austin and a BS in Journalism from Boston University. Piazza is the author of three poetry collections: Interrobang (2013) and Obliterations (2015) from Red Hen Press and This is not a sky (2014) from Black Lawrence Press. She writes poetry, fiction and non-fiction, and her main academic interests are cognitive poetics, prosody, contemporary literature and rhetoric/composition.
