Biography

Elias grew up in central California and moved to the coast to study chemistry and math at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Upon completing his undergraduate studies, Elias moved to Los Angeles to study at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In 2018, Elias left California to study at Harvard University. Over the years, Elias has gained expertise in synthesis, catalysis, and reaction development. Now Elias is back in California developing interesting reactions and efficiently synthesizing molecules of interest.

Education

  • Ph.D. Chemistry, University of California, Los Angeles, 2018
  • B.S. Chemistry and Math, University of California, Santa Barbara, 2013
    • NIH K99/R00 Postdoctoral Fellow, Harvard University, 2018 – 2021
  • Summary Statement of Research Interests

Researchers in the Picazo group focus on inventing new reactions and creating new molecules. Specifically, our group 1) develops metal-catalyzed reactions and enantioselective reactions, and 2) synthesizes natural products and new materials.
