  • Summary Statement of Research Interests

Professor McKenna’s research program is based on the application of chemical methods to probes of biological interest. Currently, he is investigating the design and synthesis of potential anti-AIDS agents. His research in organophosphorus chemistry is focused on the creation of new inhibitors of HIV and opportunistic AIDS pathogens such as Cytomegalovirus and Toxoplasma gondii.

Professor McKenna also studies the mechanism of biological N2 fixation.
