Dr. Cathleen Mejico is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Southern California, managing The First 100: Chicanas Changing History initiative. Mejico’s research broadly focuses on questions of racialized geographies, community institutions, and collective well-being. Her upcoming book project, Neighborhoods and Livelihoods: Using and Creating Public Space in the Northeast San Fernando Valley, investigates how working-class, migrant communities use everyday spaces to create relationships of mutual support, cultural affirmation, and political strength in the face of civic neglect and racialized subjugation.
