“In my artwork, I am particularly interested in exploring repetition and spirals. I am fascinated by the ability of these motifs to lead the eye and evoke motion even if the artwork is not kinetic. I see each as reflecting humanity: repetition as collectivism and spirals as growth or progress. As a biology student, I like to make work that has an organic quality, and I often choose to work with the human form as my subject matter. My use of repetition and spirals also helps me to achieve this organic sense. From plants to animals, life is full of spirals with almost perfect mathematical beauty. In this way, my work calls to mind the close ties between science and art.”
