Fall 2025 editorial applications are now closed.

We are currently reviewing the applications we have received for our poetry, prose, and digital editing positions. Thank you for your interest in Palaver!

  • Would you like to learn more about the world of independent publishing? Do you have a passion for creative expression? Are you interested in showcasing your abilities and building your résumé?

Palaver Arts Magazine is excited to announce openings for two Poetry Editors, two Prose Editors, and one Digital Editor!

Poetry and Prose Editors will collaborate with the other editors in your genres to receive, review, and edit original student submissions.

The Digital Editor will help manage the magazine’s web presence and socials. Responsibilities will include creating flyers, posters, and other graphics for our print and social media marketing and updating our webpages to prepare a new online issue for launch.

All positions require an initial year-long commitment with the possibility of staying on for future years. Our editorial board meets every 2-3 weeks and runs at least two events a semester. All editors are asked to attend these meetings and help support our programming.

If you’re interested in applying for an editorial role, send the following to palaver.arts.magazine@gmail.com with the role you’re applying for in the subject line:

    –       a résumé

    –       a brief description of why you’re interested in being an Editor with Palaver, and an explanation of any pertinent publishing, editorial, or design background. Please also describe your ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team on deadline-driven projects.

    –       3-5 sample pieces relevant to the position you’re applying for (e.g., poems for Poetry Editing, short stories/essays for Prose Editing, or flyers/websites/social-media campaigns for Digital Editing). These samples can be your own work, work from creators you admire, or a mixture (just be sure the pieces are properly labeled and credited). Please also include a brief statement on what you find interesting about the pieces you’re sharing.

Be yourself! It’s okay if you’ve never edited a publication before. Share why you want this position, and how it fits with your personal and/or professional goals. Please note that there will be two or three rounds of review to determine whether you and this position are a good fit—so apply today!

Applications are due Sept 21, 2025.

If selected, you will work with the rest of the editorial board to market and showcase our editions seamlessly, professionally, and compellingly. We encourage you to review past issues of Palaver!
