Jiwoo Kim, Art Editor

Jiwoo Kim is a freshman from upstate New York majoring in Psychology on the pre-med track. He enjoys drawing and painting, earning national recognition from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. He is particularly interested in the intersection of psychiatric treatment and the community that the arts foster, and he is excited to see everyone’s art and creative expression! In his free time, Jiwoo likes to draw, read manga, and arrange a cappella pieces.

Vivian Ng, Art Editor

Vivian is a sophomore from San Francisco studying Biochemistry! She is drawn to art of all forms. Her art has been featured in multiple Literary and Art Magazines, including The Palaver Issue 14. She looks forward to the creative works from the USC student body!

Stella Schabel, Digital Editor

Stella (’26) is a multimedia artist who grew up in London. She is currently majoring in Media Arts + Practice at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, and working toward a Screenwriting minor. She has a passion for animation, and is particularly interested in stop-motion. In her spare time she enjoys exploring nature, watching movies and shows, rock climbing, slack-lining and snuggling her sausage dog.

William Wang, Media Editor

William is a freshman at the Roski School of Art and Design, pursuing a BFA in Design. With a strong passion for graphic design, art, and media editing, William has honed skills in content creation and project management. His work often explores themes of self-identity and belonging, drawing inspiration from personal experiences and the world around him. Open to new ideas and collaborations, he is always seeking fresh perspectives. Outside of academics, William loves to listen to music, learn a new dance, or eat in one of his favorite restaurants.

Sophia Hammerle, Poetry Editor

Sophia Hammerle is a senior from Texas majoring in Narrative Studies and Gender & Sexuality Studies. She’s passionate about themes of identity and environment and is currently doing research in the field of queer ecology. Her work has been published in Eastern Iowa Review and Lighter Magazine and featured in a digital chapbook for the USC Wrigley Institute for Environment and Sustainability. When not writing or creating, Sophia is probably eating a mango, thinking about trees, or feeding a stray cat.

Jonathan Hayden, Poetry Editor

Jonathan Hayden is a senior from North Carolina studying creative writing and East Asian Language and Culture. In high school, they self-published a poetry book and have been reading and writing poetry ever since. They’re excited to be a part of Palaver to help create a magazine that reflects the talent and interests of USC students. When not reading something eclectic, they can be found playing guitar, going to concerts, or looking for cats.

Mckinley Huffman, Poetry Editor

Mckinley Huffman is a freshman from Chicago studying music industry at the Thornton School of Music. She is passionate about literature, art, and music, and looks forward to highlighting student creativity through Palaver. In her spare time, she enjoys going to concerts, playing guitar, and exploring the city.

Janette Fu, Prose Editor

Janette Fu is an undergraduate student at the University of Southern California. She is pursuing a dual degree in business administration and journalism. She’s from L.A. and loves to read and write! Janette is also involved in various clubs and organizations such as the Daily Trojan where she works as an associate editor for the opinion section. In her free time, Janette enjoys drawing, hanging out with her friends, and binging various shows. She’s super excited to help bring stories to life and can’t wait to work with the Palaver community!

Luisa Luo, Prose Editor

Luisa Luo is a sophomore double majoring in Narrative Studies and Sociology, double minoring in Thematic Approaches and Cultural Diplomacy on a Pre-Law track. She was born and raised in Beijing, China, and moved to Orlando, Florida when she was 14. She is an avid writer,  and her pieces have been featured in Cleaver Magazine and The Kenyon Review Young Writers Anthology and recognized by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. She is a big fan of genre-busting and hopes to help more Trojans discover their creative voices while preserving the most important aspects of their identities!

Amy Cannon, Faculty Managing Editor

Amy Cannon is Associate Professor of Writing for Thematic Option. She received her MFA from UC Irvine and is the author of the chapbook “the interior desert” (Californios Press) and the mini-chapbook “to make a desert” (Platypus Press). Her work can be found in Bone Bouquet, LETTERS, LIT, and Rock & Sling, among other places.  She is delighted to oversee this stellar group of editors.
