A conversation with Mark Braude about writing compelling research-based trade books that draw on scholarly training. Dr. Braude received a PhD in History from USC in 2013. His latest work, Kiki Man Ray: Art, Love, and Rivalry in 1920s Paris (2022), was named an August 2022 Book to Read by The New York Times, Vogue, Town & Country, LitHub, The Hollywood Reporter, and others. He is also the author of The Invisible Emperor: Napoleon on Elba from Exile to Escape (2018) and Making Monte Carlo: A History of Speculation and Spectacle (2016).
