EM.11 – Resistance of Conductors – Temperature Dependence

A copper coil and a floodlight are connected to an AC power source. The applied voltage is such that the floodlight barely lights up. The coil is set in a Pyrex beaker and liquid nitrogen is poured over the coil until it is covered. As the coil is cooled, the light becomes brighter and brighter since the copper wire’s resistance lowers.
