Narda Zacchino is a journalist, editor, author of California Comeback: How a “Failed State” Became a Model for the Nation and co-author of Boots on the Ground by Dusk about the death of Pat Tillman. She became a senior fellow at the Annenberg Center for Communication Leadership and Policy following a 31-year career at the Los Angeles Times, where she rose from clerk to reporter, assistant city editor, Sacramento bureau chief, Orange County editor and associate editor. She also was deputy editor of the San Francisco Chronicle and senior editor for Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting. A longtime member of the American Society of News Editors and board member of the International Women’s Media Foundation, she worked to help women and people of color break barriers in journalism. Career highlights included being a four-time Pulitzer Prize judge and co-creator of the ongoing LA Times Festival of Books.
