The Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies at USC hosts two presentations and panel discussions with prominent theologians, Dr. Vincent Lloyd, from Villanova University, and Dr. Jonathan Tran, from Duke Divinity School, as they discuss how our society can move beyond racial identity as the primary way to think about race in America. They will share how Christian theological sources offer a path to move beyond racism.

Dr. Vincent Lloyd is Professor of Theology and Religious Studies at Villanova University, where he directs the Center for Political Theology. He is a former director of the Africana Studies Program at Villanova. His books include Black Dignity: The Struggle Against Domination, Black Natural Law, and the co-edited Anti-Blackness and Christian Ethics.
Dr. Jonathan Tran is Professor of Theological Ethics at the Divinity School at Duke University where he also serves as core faculty for Asian American and Diaspora Studies. He is co-editor of the “Reflection and Theory in the Study of Religion” book series for American Academy of Religion/Oxford University Press.
