We are accepting PhD students this year!

If you are interested in working with me, see my FAQ here and submit an application here. Note, for equity reasons, I do not respond to pre-application inquiries. Thank you for your understanding.

Postdoctoral Fellow

If you are interested in a postdoctoral position in the lab, please send an e-mail to heather.kosakowski@usc.edu . In the email please include:

  1. Information about the type of research you would like to collaborate on.
  2. If you have secured grant funding for your position or what kind of grant you are considering applying for (e.g., NIH F32 NRSA).
  3. Your prosed timeline.

Graduate Student

If you are interested in becoming a graduate student in the lab, please apply through the USC Department of Psychology: https://dornsife.usc.edu/psyc/doctoral-program/

To make the application process more equitable, please do not send pre-application inquiries and stick to the application process procedures through USC.

I will be accepting graduate students for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

For more information about USC Psychology Research Assistants, please see the following page: https://dornsife.usc.edu/psyc/undergraduate-research/

Sometimes a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow may be looking for an undergraduate research assistant. In that case, please email the grad student or postdoc directly. Ensure to use the appropriate salutation (e.g., Dear Dr. LastName for a postdoctoral fellow).

If you are interested in being an undergraduate research assistant for the lab, please send your CV or resume to the research coordinator along with a brief description of the type of research you are interested in and why our lab would be a good fit for you.

Academic year

The lab preference is for undergraduate students to do one semester of research for credit. After this first semester, the student may continue research for credit or pay. The expectations for paid and credit research assistants are slightly different and can be adjusted to accommodate your needs and interests.

Summer

Summer research assistantships are available. If you are interested in a summer research assistantship, please email the Research Coordinator with your CV and a statement of interest for more information.
