Welcome to the Healthy Food for Kids website!
There are two parts to this website: a brochure series and a video series.
The brochure series will provide nutritious recipes, cost-analysis for ingredients, nutrition labels, and information on specific nutrients. Through this project, we hope to help foster nutrition education for both parents and children. Brochures and recipes are provided in both English and Spanish. There are 11 brochures in total: the first one providing information for parents and the rest providing recipes that each focus on a different nutrient.
The video project highlights healthy ingredients in unconventional ways. We explain the health benefits and some background information on each one in hopes of encouraging viewers to incorporate them into their own cooking. All of the videos contain a budget breakdown, and none of them exceed $2 per serving. There are 6 videos in total that simply explain how to make the featured recipe.
This project was made possible and funded by the USC Helen Leslie Milligan Turner Fellowship program, which is offered through the USC Human and Evolutionary Biology Section in the Department of Biological Sciences.
