Designing an undergraduate experience that will define the future of liberal arts education.

USC Dornsife offers the unique combination of a liberal arts education updated with a global, socially aware and entrepreneurial mindset that ensures our students graduate with the tools to flourish and adapt as they navigate through multiple careers in today’s rapidly changing world. The cornerstone of our undergraduate experience is having students turn thought into action through experiential learning. Our goal is to ensure that every student is able to take full advantage of our vast array of enrichment opportunities, including faculty-directed research, overseas studies and internships that constitute the foundation of a transformative undergraduate experience.

USC Dornsife in Action

Our faculty are designing an improved undergraduate experience that will define the future of liberal arts education. By deploying new teaching models that disrupt passive learning, every student will be provided with the opportunity to apply their education in the real world – whether it be in the laboratory, the boardroom or overseas.

USC Dornsife encourages international literacy, global knowledge and cultural competencies by providing students of every discipline the opportunity to participate in a wide range of overseas programs. Programs include opportunities for research, experiential learning or an internship. All students are encouraged to integrate study abroad into their overall USC experience.

At USC Dornsife, students benefit from a liberal arts environment located in the heart of a world-renowned research university. Working under the guidance of distinguished faculty, undergraduates participating in the SOAR program have the opportunity to be mentored one-on-one by a professor, engage in meaningful research in their desired fields and participate in a community of scholars at the faculty and student level.

USC’s Dornsife Washington, D.C. Program provides students with a unique, semester-long opportunity to study and work in the nation’s capital. The immersive program provides a tailored “D.C. experience.” Students take courses drawn from areas with direct policy relevance such as international relations, the political process, and economics. All courses are taught by USC faculty and practitioners with extensive real world experience and who are experts in their respective fields.

Communities of Support

Giving Back Through Time and Talent

It’s very important to acknowledge when a place or person has invested in you. And it’s also very important to repay that and make sure that others have those opportunities.

Fight On for Things That Matter

I realized that a gift to JEP could support a program that had been a meaningful service-learning opportunity for me and was even more important during a time when so many kids in L.A. were in online school without the usual support systems in their schools.

    How You Can Help

The greatest need for student access and affordability for USC Dornsife is funding to allow students who are already receiving full or partial financial aid scholarships to take full advantage of experiential learning opportunities, which is an important and critical part of their experience at the College. Gifts of all sizes will help bring these opportunities to students.

    • Maymester, Julymester and Problems Without Passports provide exceptional opportunities for research and experiential learning off campus, throughout the United States, or even abroad.

    • Fund a research opportunity for a student working on his/her own research project with the guidance from a faculty mentor or alongside a faculty member working on a complex issue.

    • Undergraduate students gain a wealth of knowledge and experience from internship experiences. However, some internships are unpaid. Stipends allow students to explore industries like public service and non-profit without financial barriers.

    • The Career Pathways Office supports all USC Dornsife students in career development through mentorship, career advising, skill building seminars, internship and job opportunities, and much more.

    • Service-learning programs at USC Dornsife allow students to develop civic engagement skills while benefiting the surrounding community. Programs at USC Dornsife include the Joint Educational Project, Teaching International Relations Program, Center for Active Learning in International Studies, among others.
