Scholarships, both need- and merit-based, fuel tomorrow’s innovators, leaders, researchers and scholars.

Earning a degree from USC Dornsife is a life-changing experience. We prepare students intellectually and socially to pursue their careers, engage with their communities and live rich and rewarding lives. We are committed to helping our talented and motivated scholars achieve their academic dreams, regardless of their financial situations. Two-thirds of our students require financial assistance, and scholarships are what help close financial gaps and reward students’ efforts to achieve academic excellence.

The Experience of a First-Gen Student

“As a first generation student, I had no clue what to expect during my college experience. Overwhelmed by immersive learning opportunities, interdisciplinary programs and the spirit of the Trojan Family, I dreamed that USC Dornsife would prepare me for success after graduation. Generosity from supporters like you have enabled me to travel globally and directly apply my studies to real-world situations. These immersive learning experiences have enhanced my knowledge of complex international policy issues and expanded my worldview. Consider supporting the next generation of global leaders and problem solvers today.”

“I’m a Ph.D. student in molecular biology alongside a team of renowned researchers including Professor Peter Kuhn at USC Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience. I’m developing non-invasive methods for cancer monitoring and detection. The unique approach of our team focuses on individual patients’ response to cancer treatment. The technology I’m developing with crucial donor support has the potential to monitor an individual’s cancer progression treatment response and predict early relapse before any physical symptoms are even present. This support is critical as we shape the future of cancer care that has the vast potential to save lives.”

Honoring a Lifetime Friend and Mentor

All of the scholarships are a part of Dean Joan’s legacy, but her real legacy is all the countless students she touched and guided and made better people. And that includes me.

A Continuing Legacy of Public Service

If the students who receive this scholarship have even a small fraction of what I had, if this scholarship helps them to learn their purpose, then that’s worth it.

Michael L. Williams USC Dornsife alumnus, Michael Williams, describes the decision to establish the scholarship as a reflection of his commitment to two of the great loves of his life: USC and his native state.

    How You Can Help

USC employs a need-blind admissions policy in order to select students based on their personal and academic strengths—regardless of their financial means. Scholarships serve as critical recruitment and retention tools in this process. By providing support for students across the income spectrum, scholarships help make a USC Dornsife education possible for talented and deserving scholars from all walks of life. Gifts of any size will help bring these opportunities to students.

    • Doctoral Fellowships are investments in the lives of the next great scholars and professors.  Fellowships provide doctoral candidates with the support they need to focus on research that ranges from unlocking new lessons in our shared history to making scientific breakthroughs that improve human health. Furthermore, doctoral candidates provide essential assistance to faculty leaders – not just in the field or in the lab – but also as teachers and mentors to undergraduate students.

    • Donors who support Dornsife Master’s Degree candidates provide critical graduate fellowships to young leaders just as they are coming into their own and forging a path for career success through advanced study. Investments in Master’s candidates come at a defining moment in their lives as they become recognized practitioners and leaders in their fields.

    • Scholarships for USC Dornsife undergraduates support the next generation of Trojans. Donors help make a USC Dornsife education possible, providing students an undergraduate experience that prepares them to be critical thinkers. USC Dornsife graduates are ready for future leadership roles and equipped with the skills needed to bring about positive change in the world – whether it’s through pursuing an advanced degree, entering the private sector, or beginning a career in public service.
