10.06.2024 – And… it’s a wrap!

…and it’s a wrap! The 9th SoCal CryoEM Meeting at the University of Southern California was a blast. Thank you all for coming, presenting your phenomenal science, and making it an overall very memorable day. USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences / USC Bridge Institute.

I am humbled that we had keynote presentations by two living legends: Prof. Helen Berman and Prof. Hao Wu (Harvard Medical School) Thank you for sharing your experience, insights and some truly spectacular results.

A special shout-out to our very own Aaliyah Tyson for an outstanding presentation! Stay tuned for an exciting publication.

Thanks to our sponsors, who made all of this possible: Amgen Thermo Fisher Scientific NanoImaging Services Structura Biotechnology Gatan Inc. NanoSoft, LLC. And a very special thanks to our staff and lab members, who helped for a very smooth operation.

09.19.2024 – We are hosting the SoCal CryoEM Meeting 2024.

10.17.2023 – We are hiring!

PostDoctoral Position in GPCR Structural Biology at USC, Los Angeles

The position is available starting immediately in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California and is initially limited to 2 years, with possible extension.

Our research focuses on the structural biology of G protein-coupled receptors involved in neurobiology and immunology, using single particle cryoEM, complemented with biophysical assays.

USC has a suite of research facilities and has recently commissioned a brand-new cryoEM facility:

• CryoEM suite: Titan Krios with GIF Quantum energy filter and K3 detector, Glacios with Falcon 4 detector, Talos Arctica with CCD/side entry holder for NS and screening
• Core facility for insect- and mammalian cell expression
• High performance computing for data processing/analysis

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. degree with a solid background in structural biology and biophysics/biochemistry. Previous work with membrane protein purification and experience with cryoEM data analysis is a plus. A successful candidate is expected to be highly skilled and self-motivated and is willing to work in a collaborative environment. The Postdoctoral salary depends on qualifications and relevant experiences according to USC standards.

Interested candidates should apply directly with Cornelius Gati at gati[at]usc.edu. Please attach a cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, research statement, publication list and a reference letter. There is no deadline for this posting and applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis.
