Dornsife Embedded Counselors
USC Student Health introduced the embedded therapist program to bring convenient appointment and consultation locations to college communities who could benefit from direct access to USC Counseling and Mental Health (CMH) counselors. Dornsife is proud to be a part of this program.
This unique model allows students to conveniently seek out mental health support within the buildings and academic community they frequent every day. Thanks to their physical placement and community focus, our embedded counselors can hone in on the needs of Dornsife’s student population in a supportive, confidential space.
Our embedded team also offers consultations to Dornsife’s staff and faculty in support of students. To consult with an embedded counselor about a non-urgent concern, please visit us during drop-in hours or contact dornsife.embedded@usc.edu.

Dylan Moore, LCSW, DSW
Dylan Moore, LCSW earned his Master of Social Work degree from University of Southern California in 2017, with a focus on mental health and military social work. Dylan is currently enrolled as a Doctorate of Clinical Social Work (DSW) student at University of Pennsylvania. Dylan has experience treating anxiety, depression, adjustment related challenges, trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and a wide range of matters relating to adults and veterans.
Dylan’s dedication to social work and mental health advocacy stems from his own experiences as a former United States Marine Corps Reserve veteran from 2007 to 2014. Dylan went on a combat deployment to Helmand Province, Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010. Maddie Eccleston, PsyD
Dr. Maddie Eccleston is a licensed clinical psychologist at the University of Southern California (USC), where she serves as an embedded therapist within the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. In this role, she provides counseling and support to students navigating the complexities of higher education and personal growth.
Dr. Eccleston’s passion for psychology stems from her own therapeutic journey as a teenager and young adult. Raised in a small town in California, she was inspired to pursue a career in psychology, leading her to earn both a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from Rosemead School of Psychology.
With extensive clinical experience in college counseling centers and community mental health, Dr. Eccleston has worked with organizations such as the Skid Row Housing Trust. Her clinical interests focus on relational issues, identity concerns, attachment issues, mood disorders, religious trauma, and life direction challenges. She is particularly passionate about integrating humor into therapy, believing it fosters comfort and connection with her clients.
Dr. Eccleston’s dissertation research explored social representation theory and the portrayal of women in comedy. She examined how society views funny women and the mechanisms of humor, an area of study she continues to pursue with deep interest.
A core principle of Dr. Eccleston’s therapeutic approach is meeting students where they are, offering compassionate care to help them navigate life’s challenges. She currently leads the Queer & Questioning therapy group at USC, creating a supportive space for students to explore their identities and find connection.
Outside of work, Dr. Eccleston enjoys music, movies, and spending time with friends.
