    Dornsife Undergraduate Research Opportunities

    USC Dornsife’s renowned faculty produce research that changes our understanding of the world. As an undergraduate student, you have opportunities to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with these experts through the process of discovery and make an impact that is all your own.

    Summer Undergraduate Research Fund (Surf)

    SURF and SHURE are opportunities for USC Dornsife students to pursue research in conjunction with Dornsife faculty members, either on or off campus, during the summer semester. The purpose of SURF/SHURE is to connect students with faculty members and their research. It allows students to be mentored one-on-one by USC Dornsife faculty, introduces students early in their academic careers to the process of serious scholarly inquiry and fosters valuable relationships between students and faculty.

    Student Opportunities for Academic Research (SOAR)

    The SOAR program provides funding to Dornsife undergraduates for participation as a research assistant in a faculty member’s project during the fall and spring semesters of the academic year. The purpose of SOAR is to connect students with faculty members and their research. It allows all students to be mentored one-on-one by USC faculty, introduces students early in their academic careers to the process of serious scholarly inquiry, and fosters valuable relationships between students and faculty.

    American Economics Association (AEA) Research Highlights

    The AEA profiles research from all of its journals covering the wide range of topics that economists study.

    AEA Undergrad Research Opportunities

    Several economics associations invite undergraduates to present essays at their annual meetings and some award prizes for the best essay. Other organizations invite participation by undergraduates and provide summer and other opportunities for college students to pursue their interest in economics.

    AEA Journal Access for Students

    Students of high-school age and teachers who want to introduce students to the world of economics research can now receive complimentary access to all of the AEA’s prestigious journals through a limited membership account.
