Here’s Some of Our Work

Illustrations: Quantum Initiative

    The Challenge

Illustrate complex ideas clearly and creatively.

The Creative Content team was tasked with producing an advancement case statement publication featuring USC Dornsife’s Quantum Information Science Initiative. No small task, given the complexity of quantum research and the need for imagery focused on subatomic particles.

    Our Creative

The traditional world of quantum imagery — charts, tubes, and computer chips — was way too stale.  So we created bold, original illustrations using the Kurzgesagt style to clearly and creatively demonstrate these concepts.   The designs, which are suitable for print and digital use, make quantum research accessible … and maybe even a little fun?

    The Results

11 original illustrations were used in the final publication. They hit their mark with bold colors and a clean, distinctive style.  And in the landscape of quantum imagery, there is really nothing else like it. Our project partners were very happy with the final designs.

    Mark Design: Korean Studies Institute

      The Challenge

Create a New Symbol for the Korean Studies Institute

The USC Dornsife Korean Studies Institute approached us to develop a design element as part of a larger brand refresh. The mark would be incorporated in marketing and promotional materials to offer a visual way to differentiate the institute that would be instantly recognizable and provide a sense of welcoming.

One of the important factors was to incorporate their headquarters at the Ahn House — a location well-known by Korean communities worldwide.

      Our Creative

Working with the Korean Studies Institute, Creative Content conceptualized various design options; established the direction of the design; and created the final mark.

      The Results

The Creative Content team created a distinctive mark that draws from Korean culture. The final symbol is reflective of a Korean signature stamp. It features the historic Ahn House, where the institute is located, and incorporates the rose of Sharon — South Korea’s national flower and famous symbol in Korean culture. The mark can appear in the various USC brand colors and works seamlessly in all types of print and digital marketing materials.

      Animation: Qubits

For a quantum computer to work correctly, qubits must typically operate at temperatures close to absolute zero and remain unaffected by minuscule changes to their environment. Figuring out how to maintain these “Goldilocks” conditions and preserve the qubits’ quantum properties is a tremendous challenge. But USC experts are taking the problem head-on.”
