Pulpits & Beyond – Examples of Compelling Preaching Inside and Outside of Congregations
Faith leaders want to preach in a way that engages their members and connects with the rest of their ministries. And yet preachers also have voiced concerns about how their sermons fit into a world characterized by declining religious participation and cultural and political polarization.
CRCC’s Compelling Preaching initiative created space for faith leaders to consider how to develop their preaching in an ever-changing social and cultural landscape. Our goal was to support preachers as they to share their message on important social issues both within and beyond the walls of their congregations.
We created a list of examples of Compelling Preaching both inside and outside of congregational spaces. The traditional and “public” sermons were created by members of the cohort and prominent preachers.
How do you bring your core values to bear on efforts to improve your communities through your preaching?
