The BRAVE Lab plans to recruit a PhD student through USC’s Clinical Science PhD program for Fall 2027 admission.
When evaluating applicants, we consider many factors, but research experience is especially important. We are particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate meaningful involvement in research, including experiences such as presenting a poster at a conference, completing an undergraduate thesis, or contributing to a research manuscript. Because the BRAVE Lab relies heavily on EEG and fMRI methods, applicants with at least one year of experience in human neuroscience, psychophysiology, or related research are especially encouraged to apply. Experience working with children, adolescents, and families is also valuable given the developmental focus of our work.
Prospective applicants are welcome to contact Dr. Valadez by email with questions. However, in fairness to all applicants, he does not meet individually with prospective students outside of the formal admissions process.
