Weronika Malek-Lubawski
Biography
Weronika Malek is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Art History and an enrollee in the Visual Studies Graduate Certificate. Her dissertation “Between Moscow and Paris: Lodz and the Transnational Avant-Garde Network 1921-1939” reconstructs the networks between avant-garde Russian, Polish, and Western European artists in the interwar period. Weronika received her M.A. in Humanities from the University of Chicago and holds a B.F.A. with an emphasis in art history and painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2018-2019 she was a recipient of FLAS Fellowship in Russian language and Eastern European area studies within art history at the University of Chicago. Her doctoral research was supported by the Fulbright Fellowship in Poland, the ASEEES, VSRI, and Kazimir Malevich Society research fellowships, and the Cohen-Tucker Dissertation Completion Fellowship.
