Biography

Alex Robb is a Postdoctoral Scholar – Research Associate at the University of Southern California, working with Prof. Mark E. Thompson on advanced organic photovoltaics (OPVs). His research focuses on computational design and synthesis of molecules with tailored singlet–triplet gaps and high absorptivity to improve non-radiative efficiencies in OPVs, as well as spectroscopic screening of charge generation in blended films.

Alex earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Florida State University, where his dissertation explored electron transfer at molecule–metal oxide interfaces for dye-sensitized devices. He has extensive experience in molecular assembly, thin-film fabrication, and characterization for solar energy conversion and photocatalysis. Previously, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Savannah River National Laboratory, contributing to projects on photocatalytic water splitting and flexible photovoltaics.
