Erica Ho

As a Population, Health, and Place PhD student, Erica is working on combining her interests in spatial analysis, human rights, and environmental health to conduct research on innovative ways to improve water, sanitation and hygiene accessibility and quality for marginalized populations in international communities.

Prior to joining the USC Population, Health and Place Ph.D. program, Erica was a research associate at the AltaMed Institute for Health Equity, where she led several research projects aiming to address various social determinants of health, such as hunger, housing insecurity and other issues faced by patients within the AltaMed health system.

She has previously served similar roles at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health and the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation in Los Angeles, California.

Erica is the first author of the articles “Diverse Health, Gender and Economic Impacts from Domestic Transport of Water and Solid Fuel: A Systemic Review” published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health and “Findings of living donation experiences shared on a digital storytelling platform: A thematic analysis” published in Patient Education and Counseling Innovation.

She is also the author of several other papers on patient education and patient advocacy.
