The Empathetic Letter

Write a one page single-spaced public letter in which you utilize the skills gained through your Empathy Project tasks and employ the rhetorical tools appropriate to connecting with a public audience.  This letter may be addressed to a specific person, including individuals from your personal life and public figures, or it may be an Open Letter.  In an Open Letter, you are writing to a named recipient, but the general public is your implied audience and thus you must be aware of the triangulation between writer, addressee, and the implied public readership.Your letter should focus on a complex issue, but that topic need not be a social issue.  Rather, it might be a personal matter. Your goal is not exclusively to resolve the issue, although that may be part of your project.  The central focus, however, is to model humane and effective communication that prioritizes a merger between emotion and logic; in other words, you are being challenged to communicate in a way that is both rationally articulate and empathetically engaged at the same time.
