Biography

Maria Madrigal is USC Sea Grant’s Education Specialist and leads educational outreach efforts that meet the goals of USCSG’s focus areas including environmental literacy, workforce development and community science projects. 

Maria received a BA in Studio Arts with a minor in Natural Sciences from Loyola Marymount University and a MS in Ecological Teaching and Learning from Lesley University. 

Maria gained extensive experience in teaching and workforce development through her tenure at an aquarium managed by the Los Angeles Conservation Corps. She undertook multiple roles from direct field work to strategic program planning throughout her almost 20 years of guiding young adults as they explored environmental career options in education, husbandry, horticulture and coastal habitat restoration.
