“I stood in front of the painting for a long time. It was a cryptic subject matter with no immediately discernible message. The absence of an artist’s statement called for open interpretation – my own understanding of what I was gazing at. I found enjoyment in the fact that it made me stop to ponder its meaning. Slowly, I came to the conclusion: ‘Isn’t that the point?’”
