USC Dornsife’s Joseph Boone, Macarena Gómez-Barris, María-Elena Martínez and James McHugh receive prestigious humanities fellowships.

James McHugh, assistant professor of religion in USC Dornsife, has written the first comprehensive study of premodern Indian perfumes within the cultural and philosophical contexts of smell as portrayed in literary texts of the period.

USC College's James McHugh has been appointed society fellow at Cornell University's Society for the Humanities, enabling him to complete his book about the aesthetics and significance of scent in medieval India.
